This was during the period that I was really not getting out much at all and the experience of the day was what started to get me back into a more aggressive climbing schedule. Of course I didn’t know I would have some health issues in 2024 that would provide another set-back, but that’s a story for another day.
Giant always looks like it’ll be an easy day because of how short the approach is; but don’t let that give you a false sense of how much work this mountain actually is. Every time you think the summit must be over the next feature you discover you’ve still got a long way to go. It is however a non-technical climb the entire way; the only time things ever get exciting is during the spring and fall when the cold nights coat the slabs in verglas which is often nearly invisible in the shade and from September to May you’re really going to want to have some form of traction aid along for the trip.
