Rocky Ridge Peak – August 17th, 2025

Rocky Ridge “False” Peak. There were so many false peaks that we started to wonder if we would ever reach the real RRP! Despite the many comments from Emilie saying “surely, this is one… right? right?!”, we made it to the top. It started as a sunny day with stunning views, particularly on the top of Bald Peak. There is a shortcut near Blueberry Cobbler that we should have taken on the way up to cut down our time, but going the long way did give us some beautiful views. We opted to take it on the way down though. This one ranks high on the panoramic views – highly recommend!

It’s a very clean trail, but it did get a bit muddy at the bottom of Bald Peak as you walk around the pond. A lot of clean, bare rock.

It took a lot of emotional and physical endurance with steep inclines. The rain clouds started moving in as we were coming down Bald Peak and starting the climb up RRP. It got very cloudy and misty as we reached the endless false summits and it started raining not long before we reached the summit. Thankfully, not enough rain to make things too unpleasant or slippery.

Lessons learned: Emilie should have changed her socks – her feet were so wet and wrinkled by the time we got to the car! Alltrails did not give us an accurate estimate of the distance and average time to complete the hike. We didn’t realize it would take as long as it did.
