Pulks

Pulks are by far the best way to move gear when terrain allows. They minimize weight on your back dramatically and allow you to bring significantly more gear to your base camp.

Ski Pulk generously provided the pulk brackets, poles, fins, and one harness to build two Paris Expedition Pulks that I will be loaning out, and taking to events to give people a chance to give one a try and see how much help they can be.

I did some custom additions including two slightly different up-hill brake designs as well as a down-hill brake chain system to help make them more manageable in the Adirondacks where the terrain is always trying to make things as difficult as possible.

My expedition pack (Kelty White Cloud) already had removable gear loops on the hip-belt, I modified two of them by removing the plastic tube and sewing the webbing into an appropriate sized loop to make securing the tow poles quick and easy. The more secure your attachment point the more control you have.
